What The Corruption Perceptions Index Measures
This game uses the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index table as shown on Wikipedia, based on Transparency International rankings and scores.
- Gameplay is based on rank position: countries nearer No. 1 are perceived as less corrupt in the public sector.
- Each reveal also keeps the underlying CPI score, which runs from 0 to 100 with higher scores meaning cleaner public-sector perception.
- The CPI is built from expert and business assessments of perceived public-sector corruption, not direct measurement of every corrupt act.
This is a perception index about public-sector corruption, not a full census of how corruption is lived, reported, or hidden.
