What This Abolition Year Means
This game compares the year a country completely abolished capital punishment.
- The source chronology only includes countries that have fully abolished the death penalty, so retentionist states are intentionally outside this pool.
- When a country abolished, reinstated, and later abolished again, the chronology uses the later abolition year.
- That makes this a game about final abolition, not the first moment a death penalty law was ever suspended or narrowed.
- In each round, pick the country with the later abolition year, or SAME when the year matches.
Abolition dates look tidy only after decades of reversals, carve-outs, military codes, and political bargaining are flattened into one year.
